Lee Roy Selmon's life is one of football scholarships, family involvement and involvement in the community. First, the Selmon familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids on a Eufala farm. In second football, he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for all of the nation. He won two championships and 31-1-1 during his three years as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975, and was designated a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon was awarded a degree from Education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in the college. Following college, he moved to Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers was the all-pro 3 times, and began his business career. In 1988, as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa He was a member of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds during his time playing college football. He was a captain in 1975. was the captain of the group. In 1993, Roy was a part of at the University of South Fla's athletic department as the assistant director. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame by the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by The Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
