Fawn Mckay

Fawn Brodie McKay born September 15, 1915 was a native of Ogden Utah. She was a member of the Mormon Church's very first family, Fawn McKay devoted her brilliant writing talents as well as her remarkable abilities in research to create an amazing psycho-historical account of Joseph Smith, published in 1945 under the title No Man knows My History. The title comes from the funeral sermon given by Joseph Smith who was the creator of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. The preacher shocked the audience when he said declaring: "You don't even know my name. There is no way to know my feelings." My history is unknown to anyone. I can't tell. Fawn, a 29-year-old woman has written: "Since that moment of honesty at least three scores writers have taken on the challenge." A lot of people have detested him while others have deified. There are a few who have come to an assessment. Not that the documents are not there, but the fact that they're contradictory. The task of assembling the documents, of separating firsthand accounts from third-hand plagiarism of fitting Mormon as well as non-Mormon stories to create a picture that is plausible history. It is both fascinating and educational. It's a task which Fawn Brodie committed herself professionally. Her research and writings brought her fame around the world. Thaddeus Stephens. The DevilDrives. Thomas Jefferson. An intimate History (1974) as well as posthumously Richard Nixon.
